I sat down with the incredible Joyful Adenike for the latest episode of Dear Christian Girl podcast and if you don’t know Joyful, let me introduce her properly.
She’s a filmmaker, director, and producer known for creating compelling stories. She is the creative mind behind films like Summer Rain and Chemistry and she’s currently working on her newest film, Tele x Zikora. Beyond film, she’s an author, content creator, wife, mum and she’s a woman who wears many hats beautifully.
She built an Instagram platform to over 164,000 followers and walked away from it to start fresh and her new page grew to over 61,000 followers in a fraction of the time. She’s built not one, but three YouTube channels from scratch. The first grew to over 42,000 subscribers, the second to over 40,000, and now her newest channel is rapidly growing again.
When Netflix dropped her film Chemistry at the last minute, she was heartbroken. But instead of letting the disappointment define her, she kept creating and went on to produce another film, Tele x Zikora.
She’s the queen of starting over, and in our conversation, she was honest about what starting over actually means.
Starting over isn’t a glamorous reset. More often than not, it’s terrifying, and even after you’ve rebuilt your life once, the fear doesn’t magically disappear the next time you have to begin again. You just learn to keep moving forward anyway, even while you’re afraid.
If you’ve failed at something, or you’re walking through failure right now, if you’ve faced rejection more than once, watched a business fall apart, seen your career stall, or had a dream slip through your fingers, and you’re wondering, How do I begin again?, this episode is for you.
